I love Avocados. This fruit is a nutritional powerhouse, and with amazing health benefits for you. I eat avocado at least 2 to 3 times a week. I put it in my green smoothie and salad, and as a vegetarian, it is my replacement for meat.

The fact that the avocado provides, is a healthy fat because it is monounsaturated fat in the form of oleic acid. Monounsaturated fat is the “good fat,” which reduces bad cholesterol in your blood, and therefore lowers your risk of stroke and heart disease. Many fruits have high-level content of sugar. For example, banana which I love has a very high level of sugar. Avocado sugar content is very low compared to others. Half of an avocado contains .2 g of sugar. It is also an excellent source of potassium, much more than bananas, it is rich in Vitamin K, Vitamin B9, B6, B5, Vitamin C, and Vitamin E. A medium avocado contains 11 grams of fiber, which is close to half of the daily recommended minimum intake.

Avocado also helps to lower your cholesterol. A study in the Archives of Medical Research found that an “avocado-enriched diet can provide lipid profile in healthy and especially in mild hypercholesterolemia patients.” Avocado may reduce the risk of diabetes, stroke and coronary artery disease. Consuming avocados, help to improve your overall diet quality, nutrient intake, and reduce your risk of metabolic syndrome. It also helps to provide a healthy body weight and BMI. Studies show that people who ate avocados more were likely to have a lower Body Weight, BMI (body mass index) and weight circumference.

Avocados may help to prevent Cancer because it is rich in phytochemicals, which has been reported to help prevent the development of certain cancers.

Some people might be allergic to avocados, but if you are not, try having an avocado sandwich next time for lunch. Instead of cheese or a meat sandwich, apply slices of avocado to your salad and sandwich. Avocado will certainly help to prolong your life. A healthy day starts with adding avocado to the menu. If you love a green smoothie, add avocado to it as well.

A healthy body begins and ends with you. Eat an avocado at least 3 times a week.
