Filmmaker Jake Wilson Breaks the Rules with His Latest Lip-Synch Parody

Jake Wilson and his boys recreate Dua Lipa's iconic "New Rules" music video offering a fair balance of diversity, something we often don't get to see.

You never know what you’ll find or see when browsing the internet. Social media offers so much, and the fun part is discovering all the creative individuals in the world willing to share their talents with the rest of the world.

Jake Wilson is one of those creative artists. He’s a filmmaker in LA known for funny shorts like his super-gay “Bad Blood” spoof. His shorts make us stop, listen and watch. His latest video creation is a recreation of the break-up song by the talented artist Dua Lipa. Jake and his boys (Bruno Carvalho, Cole Doman, Constantine Rousouli, Harper Watters, Mark Kanemura, and Zach Graves) meticulously recreate Dua Lipa’s “New Rules” music video in Los Angeles.

Jake and the boys did a fantastic job with the recreation, and we can’t wait to see more from him and the boys. This is one of the best for a variety of reasons but mostly because it is sharp, sexy, fun and offers a fair balance of diversity, something we often don’t get to see. It’s nice to see a solid representation of gay men within the LGBTQ community, and it’s what I love most about the video.

And we’re not the only ones who love the video and are talking about it; Dua herself posted it to her Instagram. If that’s not a stamp of approval, we don’t know what is.

I was not familiar with Dua Lipa until I watched Jake’s video so I even have a new artist to add to my playlist. If you aren’t sure who she is, I’m sure you’ve heard her mega-hit, “Blow Your Mind.”
