For over a century, people have been using apple cider vinegar to lose weight, and help with their health and wellness. The nutrients it contains is rich in bioactive components like acetic acid, gallic acid, catechin, epicatechin, caffeic acid, giving it potent antioxidant, antimicrobial and many other beneficial properties.

In the 1700’s medical practitioners used vinegar to heal their wounds, treat poison ivy, and stomach aches. It was also used to treat diabetes. Apple cider vinegar is also used for cooking for health and wellness purposes, cleaning and garden care, hygiene and much more.  Some of the health benefits include:

Because the vinegar is said to be anti-glycemic, it therefore has a beneficial effect on blood sugar levels. A theory is that vinegar might inactivate some of the digestive enzymes that break down carbohydrates into sugar from a meal into your bloodstream. This gives your body more time to pull sugar out of your blood, preventing your sugar levels from spiking. Research has been done to support the use of vinegar as a diabetic treatment as well.  A study found that vinegar treatment improved insulin sensitivity in 19 percent of individuals with type 2 diabetes and 34 percent of those with pre-diabetes.

Heart Health:

Cardiovascular disease is the number one killer in adults. One way to reduce heart disease risk among adults is to consume apple cider vinegar. Regular consumption of apple cider vinegar can help to reduce blood pressure, which is a major factor of those with heart disease.

Prevent Cancer:

Foods that contain high amounts of natural antioxidants are known to help prevent the risk of developing cancer. Apple cider vinegar contains high amounts of polyphenols which are also found in wine and can help to reduce your risk and fight radicals in your body.

Weight Loss:

Apple cider vinegar helps you lose weight since it appears to have an anti-obesity effect by increased satiety and reducing the total amount of food consumed. Various studies have shown that obese patients decreased abdominal fat, and overall body weight, especially when digested daily for 12 weeks.  The consumption of acetic acid also prevents the build-up of body and liver fats.

Conditions Hair and Skin:

Combine apple cider vinegar and water to make a natural hair solution.  If you suffer from dandruff, and flaky scalp, by using the apple cider vinegar and water solution you will not only destroy the dandruff-causing fungus, but it also will restore your scalp’s PH balance.  You need to leave the apple cider vinegar on your scalp and let it soak for at least 15-minutes and  no longer than 60 minutes. Wash it out for excellent results. Complete this at-home remedy one to two times per week and you will notice the difference.

Apple cider vinegar also restores uneven skin tone into a glowing skin.  Soak a cotton pad into the apple cider vinegar with a cup of water all over the face as a toner.  It will also reduce fine lines and wrinkles. The end result is firmer skin and a regulated PH balance.

Improve Your Breath, Teeth Color, and Scent:

You can use apple cider vinegar for improving bad breath by gargling with it in warm water or as a teeth whitener. As a deodorant, you can dab it under your arm.

Coughs and Colds:

Apple cider vinegar also helps with coughs and colds. Apple cider vinegar combined with honey and mixed with warm water, helps during the cold and flu season. Drink this home remedy three times a day and you will notice a relief from coughing, stuffy nose, and other cold symptoms will clear up.

Energy Boost:

Apple cider vinegar contains potassium and enzymes to help rid you of fatigue. The amino acids may help prevent the build-up of lactic acid in your body prevent further preventing fatigue

Acid Reflux:

Apple cider vinegar helps to balance your stomach PH balance by neutralizing stomach acid. The acid reflux results from having too little acid in your stomach. You can improve the acid content of your stomach by taking one tablespoon of raw unfiltered organic apple cider vinegar in a large glass of water daily.  The pectin in apple cider vinegar also helps to soothe intestinal  spasm.  The apple cider vinegar not only effectively stimulates digestive juices that help the body break down food, but it also contains healthy acids like isobutryic, acetic, propionic and lactic acid that can control growth of unwanted yeast and bacteria in your stomach and throughout your body.  I suffer from acid reflux and I use Bragg’s organic apple cider vinegar because it is unrefined, and has not been pasteurized. The vinegar contains bacteria and yeast fermentation.  It is organic and kosher, and non GMO certified, and 5 percent acidity.

Try a daily dose of apple cider vinegar in a large glass of water and you will see the difference in your health and wellness. Consult your doctor before doing a daily regiment of apple cider vinegar especially if you are taking medication .
