I love dark chocolate, especially when its covered in nuts, almond, walnut and cashew. Dark chocolate is loaded with so much nutrients that affects your body in a positive and healthy manner.

The dark chocolate comes from the cocoa tree which provide one of the best sources of antioxidant, and can improve your body and lower the risk of heart disease.  The organic compound that the dark chocolate is loaded with, function as antioxidant. These include polyphenols, flavanols, catechin, and others to name a few. This dark chocolate is a powerful source of antioxidants. The claim of dark chocolate is that it contains more antioxidant activity, polyphenols and flavanols than other fruits tested, which includes blueberries and acai berries.  The dark chocolate rich in vitamins is not the sugary kind that is sold throughout. You must buy quality dark chocolate with a high cocoa content, and it then becomes nutritious and healthy for your body.

A 100 gram of dark chocolate with 70-85% cocoa content contains:

11 grams of fiber

67% of the RDA for Iron

58% of the RDA for Magnesium

89% of the RDA for Copper

98% of the RDA for Manganese

also it has plenty potassium, phosphorous, zinc and selenium

Dark chocolate also lowers the risk of cardiovascular disease.  The compound in the dark chocolate is highly protective against the oxidation of LDL, which in the long run cause much less cholesterol  to appear in the arteries and lower the risk of heart disease.  In a trial, cocoa powder was found to significantly decreased oxidized LDL cholesterol in men. It also may protect your skin against the sun.  The flavanols protect against sun induced damage, improve blood flow to the skin and increase skin density and hydration. Dark chocolate also may  improve brain function. A study shows the cocoa  improve the cognitive function in elderly people with mental impairment. A stimulant in the cocoa like caffeine  and theobromine, is possible the reason it improves brain function.

Beware that lots of chocolate on the market is unhealthy because it is loaded with lots of sugar. You should not go out and consume a whole lot of chocolate because it is still loaded with lots of calories and can be addictive to some people, and you can overeat it. Choose organic chocolate with a 70% or higher cocoa content. One of the amazing benefit of dark chocolate is its awesome taste . Eat wisely.
